Bakso Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef or chicken
  • 250g tapioca flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 200ml ice water
  • Beef broth (for boiling)
  • Noodles (optional, for serving)
  • Green onions and fried shallots (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, minced garlic, salt, and white pepper.
  2. Add the egg and mix well with your hands or a spoon until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Gradually add the tapioca flour while mixing. Continue to mix until the dough becomes sticky but firm.
  4. Slowly pour in the ice water while kneading the mixture. This will help make the bakso tender and bouncy.
  5. Once the dough is smooth and elastic, shape it into small balls (about 1-inch in diameter).
  6. Bring a pot of beef broth to a gentle boil. Carefully drop the meatballs into the boiling broth one by one.
  7. Cook the bakso for about 10-15 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are fully cooked through.
  8. Remove the bakso from the broth and set them aside.
  9. To serve, prepare a bowl of hot noodles (if using), add the cooked bakso on top, and ladle some hot broth over it.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions and fried shallots. Enjoy!

Tips: You can adjust the seasoning according to your taste. For extra flavor, you can also add fish sauce or soy sauce to the broth.
